This site, both in English and Maori, is a visual representation of how to start teaching fractions. Using the idea of catching fireflies in a jar, students need to sort the fireflies, close the lid and then provide both the numerator and divisor for the fraction. This would be an awesome lesson for a SMARTBoard classroom!
